I'm glad I'm not the only one here concerned about the inevitable. Robots will and are taking over the world.... slowly. I know it's not going to happen over night, it's going to be very gradual. Oh look, it's a cute robot, it can dance and kick a soccer ball. Ooooh, look at that robot! It can get your newspaper for you! Wow, did you hear about that car that can drive its self? Robots in the military.... robots in outerspace.... where screwed! Let's face it folks, it's happening right now. I just hope Doomsday is AFTER I'm dead...

Anyway, I'm glad the media is finally starting to take notice to this growing problem.

Why Ron Paul Has My Vote

I gotta give the guy props for trying to appeal to the minority voters this way. It is a lot different than photography, with photography you are dealing with one shot or exposure, but with cinematography you are dealing with 24 exposures every second, so it's more difficult to keep it interesting if all you got is a couple of people kissing on the beach.

Anyway, I made this video for a wedding I'm doing this Saturday. I usually do photo montages (slide shows) for weddings that I show at the reception, it's not often I get to show VIDEO at the reception, but it's defiantly something I would rather do more often. Hopefully it catches on. Anyway, this one time I took him outback to blow all the loose hair off of him and, well, we got a little carried away and made this video. This was also when he had braces, so it makes for a pretty funny video. Be sure to watch all the way to the end, it gets pretty dramatic in the second half.

Fun with leaf-blower! from Andrew Waite on Vimeo.

Things to note in this video:
1. Sam's ginormous zit that can be seen from outer-space.
2. I have a camio at : 03 and at :53.
3. Sam gets hit in the face by something that blew out of the blower at 1:04.
4. At 2:32 Sam does what I like to call the Bart Simpson.
5. Paula Abdul does not deserve to be a judge on American Idol.
6. I feel a little intimidated because I know, no matter what, I'm never going to top Jenny's submissions. However, I'm not going to let that stop me. So, on to the video, but first I need to set this one up.

Alright, this isn't a funny vintage clip of some funny situation we where in as kids, or someone getting beaten up anything. This video clip was actually taken this weekend. I figure I better start with something resent before I dig deep into the Waite family archives... being that a lot of my cousins have not met my wife or kids yet... and those that have (Amy & Jenny) it's been a while.

So, what's going on here is I've got the video camera pointed at Evelyn and she is looking at herself in the viewfinder which is flipped around and pointing at her... just so you know... other wise it might not make much sense. Be sure to stay tuned, at the end you get to see Preston suffering from the effects of L.B.F.S. while sleeping. For those who don't know L.B.F.S. or "Little Brother Flinch Syndrome" is a disease quite common in kids with older siblings (I had it as a kid too... watch Jenny's Video "violent fashion show" for proof). Evelyn has done a good job of developing Preston's reflexes and Self-Defense mechanisms.

Enjoy the video... and don't forget, you can click the 'HD' button to watch in HIGH DEFINITION!

Evelyn finds buried treasure / Preston suffers from L.B.F.S. from Amber Waite on Vimeo.

Stamped!

Stamped! - Preview Clip from Andrew Waite on Vimeo.

Okay, so I figured it was about time I put a clip from the film I did about 5 months ago. If you didn't know already, this last summer I worked on a film called 'Stamped!" as Director of Photography, Producer, Assistant Director, and Editor. It's a film about some high school students who are making up a state test on a Saturday and well... it's pretty much Breakfast Club 2007. Anyway, this isn't my first choice of clips to show, but it just so happens to be one that was semi-edited... there will be more as i continue to edit this film. I mean, TV and Movies are pretty important things for me and all and it lacks good content as it is, but come on!!!! The only shows I'm really worried about right now are Lost, Heroes, The Office, 30 Rock, Chuck, Prison Break, and Battlestar Galactica. I hear that 24 has already been postponed indefinitely... I can live with that, that show has gone WAY down hill since the third season. Speaking of 24, I found this video that I thought was funny. It's basically '24' in the year 1994, check it out!

the tag you're it thing...

Alright, so my big sis Anna "taged" me and now I have to reveal six random facts about myself. Basically this is an adult version of a myspace chain letter, but you know how I hate to disappoint my siblings... so I guess I can do this, but just this once.

1. I am terrified of old folks homes. Yeah, you read that right. I will not step inside or even near a convalescent home if can avoid it. Large quantities of geriatrics give me the willies... and don't get me started on old timers with dementia.... oh, and the way they sit in their wheelchairs and kind of scoot along the halls with their own legs FREAKS me out! The smell, walking past a room with the door open and you can hear the faint voice of some old lady talking in tongues. I have goosebumps just thinking about it.

2. I hate pie. I know, some say I am not American, but it's true and it shocks me everytime one of my siblings or even my mother forgets this fact and I have to explain why I don't like pie to them year after year at Thanksgiving or other family functions.... I wouldn't think that would be a hard thing to remember.

3. My big toe on my left foot doesn't bend. Yeah, I can't bend it.

4. I am immune to hiccups. Really. However, I have had Chicken Pox three times. THREE TIMES!

5. I was suspended from Kindergarden 5 times; throwing a comb at the teacher (accident), public urination (not an accident), biting, moving seats on the bus, and tying two girls to a tree with a jump rope.

6. I once went out on a date with two girls at the same time without either of them knowing. Talk about playing with fire. I am afraid to say who it was because I don't want this to somehow get back to them, it could be awkward.

Ok, there ya have it. Now I am supposed to tag six people. How about.... The Pope, Smokey The Bear, Chester Cheetah, Max Headroom, The Hamburgler, & The Trix Rabbit. Good luck guys!

speed of light.... well, almost.

You ever wonder what it would be like to travel at about 2,000 miles per hour on highways 58 and 14 traveling from Bakersfield to Ridgecrest? In the meantime, check out a draft of the poster.

Stamped!

Ok, so I've been really busy with this feature film I've been doing that I haven't had time to update my blog... so I'm gunna go the easy route and post some photos because they say a photo is worth a 1000 words. We got through over 180 auditions which I felt was pretty good. We'll have three more down in LA/Hollywood and hopefully one more here in Bako. So, maybe your wondering what the heck I'm talking about... which I'm sure you are, not many people know. Most everyone who knows me knows that I DJ and play a few instruments, not to many people know about my passion for film making. Maybe a few... or at least my family. Well, now you do!
So I like making movies. Ever since I was a kid I loved to make movies with my dad's camcorder. I loved being in them, I loved making them. In high school a good friend of mine started the film club in my high school and all him and I ever talked about was film. I took every opportunity I could in High School to do video projects and every time scored a 100%. I just always had a nack for it. What I would do to get my hands on some of those tapes... I would give anything to have some of those today, they all got lost or taped over at some point.
Anyway, so here I am today. I'm working on this independent film called "Stamped!" about a few teenagers in school and their misadventures... kind of a Breakfast Club movie. Anyway, I'm the Director of Photography, in case you don't know what that is, it's the guy in charge of the cinematography, camera work, artistic feel, and just plain making the movie look good. It's my favorite part of film making.
Anyway, yeah... so I'll be pretty busy this Summer with that and a few other projects as well. So, I guess that's it for now.

Hot Town, Summer in the City

So, our cooler is broken and our house is like a bazillion degrees right now. Hello, I am a mac…. And I am a PC. In fact, I have even made some of my own parodying the well know commercials by Apple Computers. I never thought I would see the day, but I am now officially a Mac user. I’m not totally ditching the PC or even turning my back on it, I’m not going to start hanging out in coffee shops, I’m not going to change my wardrobe, and I’m certainly NOT going to turn into some kind of Mac Fanboy and rant about the Mac and how it’s so much more superior to the PC and everyone should switch to the Mac as quick as you can. It’s just that in my particular industry of work the Mac is the standard. It’s much more reliable for what it is I do on a daily basis, and it does it well.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9i-3VGlB2kI/RncE5M7so-I/AAAAAAAAAAM/aCgECYav58s/s320/060110_macbook_pro.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5077532485654193122" />I bought the 15” MacBook Pro and it’s beautiful! I spent a pretty penny, 312,300 pennies (after taxes and warranties) to be exact. It was well worth it because at least for the next 200 or so days, I have the best laptop on the market! You gotta love technology!Incase you are curious, It has an 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (Santa Rosa), 2 gigs a Ram, 160 Gig Hard Drive, an Nvidia 8600 Video Card with 256 MB of RAM, and a whole lot more! This thing is a screamer! It has made my partners jealous and for that alone it was worth every cent. I also sprang for the 3 year extended warranty, when you dropping more than 3 G bills on a computer, I think an extended warranty is with the extra duckits. Anyhow, I’ll go ahead and post some of my Mac vs. PC Parody commercials on here for those who haven’t seen them yet.

Home Sweet Home

Like they always say, It's good to be back. It's true, no matter how great a trip was, it's always nice to get back home... especially when the house is clean and there is milk still in the fridge that isn't expired yet.
So, Mexico was really nice, it was the best trip down there I have taken. I must have been down there at least a dozen times, but this was the first time going to an all inclusive resort and spa. It was pretty much like a cruise without the boat. All you can eat, all you can drink, free entertainment, even free tours, excursions, massages, and room service! I even got my first manicure and pedicure and it wasn't so bad. It was an experience. My finger and toenails look the prettiest they have ever looked. The food was pretty good, we ate at a different restaurant each night. Italian one night, Brazilian the next, Japanese on the next, oh and they had Mexican too! The interesting this was that of all the different nationalities of foods that where available the Mexican was the worst. You would thing that would have that one pegged, but no, they where able to nail Japanese, Italian, Brazilian, and American WAAAAAAAY better! Go figure.
It was also nice to get to use my Spanish a little while I was there. Most everyone could speak English, but I pretty much spoke only Spanish to the locals anyway. Although I received many compliments, I was able to see how rusty my Spanish has gotten. I should really start reading the Book of Mormon in Spanish again like I used to.

Friggin' Airorts

After much frustration, I have finally come to the conclusion that one cannot win a game of solitaire while in an airport. I consider myself to be quite good at solitaire, but after at least 25 games in a row of losing time after time, I quit! I figured this would be a good time to finally get around to starting my blog.
So, I'm finally jumping on the blog bandwagon. Many of my friends have been blogging and I have spent quite some time on the world wide webs (internets, for the lepers) reading their cleaver stories and interesting views on pop culture. Turns out, I find, that my own sister Emily has been keeping a blog for quite some time and I just NOW find out. Time to stop lollygagging and time to get on the bus.
As I mentioned before, I'm in an airport. Want to guess which one? Wrong! I'm in PVR! That's Puerto Vallarta Gustavo Diaz Ordaz for those whose airport codes aren't up to snuff. I'm on my way home from a week in Mexico with my wife and in-laws. I'm actually by myself because I have a wedding tomorrow that I need to be playing music at, while the rest of my family will be coming home tomorrow. This is not the first time I have flown solo, in fact it seems I have flown more times by myself than I have with family. Maybe not. I don't mind flying, it's probably my preferred method of transportation. I have yet to travel by train or submarine, but I imagine I would still prefer airplane. It was technically the last to be invented (yes, it came after submarine, I checked) and so therefore it has some added appeal to it. You know, the most cutting edge or something like that. I think I have been on maybe six transcontinental flights and I don't know, probably six international flights, and maybe a dozen or so domestic flights.
